In the red

It's early, in Oregon...I know.

I am joining Weight Watchers on Monday. I have never done the program, so I really have no idea how well it works, how easy, how hard or if it will work for me. But I am willing to try anything that is a healthy way to shed this weight. I am going to be 38 this year and it is about time I get serious about my health. I know a lot of you have been or are on it now, so any insight would be awesome.

Monday is going to be a brutal day for me. Not only the "weigh in" at Weight Watchers, but I have my full physical with the Doc, too. I think it is just way too many times to have to get on a scale in one day. In front of someone, who is writing it down. On paper. In ink.

Talk about accountability.

I like WW more than anything else. It's a lot of common sense, really.

Just don't get discouraged with all the "looking up of points" you have to do at the beginning. Soon you'll have the points memorized on the things you use the most.

Also, as you look up points on packaged products in your pantry, keep a Sharpie nearby and write the points on the package. It really helps to see it, in black and white, that those cookies have 4 points a piece to help talk you out of them. ;)

I carry an extra points calculator in my purse so I have it with me when I shop.

For a more comprehensive list of restaurant points, Dottie's Weight Loss Zone has more than WW does. They're at:

While you're there, visit the main page and surf around a bit. Lots of good info.

Can't wait to hear how it goes tomorrow! :)

I'm so excited for you, Michelle! WW is a good program. I've been on a lot of diets, and the only ones I really lost weight on are Slim-Fast and Weight Watchers, and Weight Watchers is the only one that I've been able to maintain on. This is going to be great! It's a lot of bookkeeping at the beginning, but it's worth it.

I dont' even have a curb in my neighborhood. Well, I kinda do...but it is a barely there kinda curb. I am liking my treadmill though.

I htink that is what is hindering me the most, Frenzied. The counting. I don't measure anything, lol, so I am wondering how long I will stick to it. I am hoping I have enough determination to get down the knowledge and be able to go from there. Good idea on the Sharpie! I will do that...

Thanks for the info!

Thank you Tech. I am excited too! All the girls in my family are doing it as well, so there will be tons of good information and teachings from their own experiences. I think WW will be good for me, 'cause it will teach me how to eat normally, and not just one huge meal in the PM. It has been a little difficult to break that habit the past couple weeks.

I am off to check out Dottie...

Good luck, Michelle. Weight Watchers is a good program. It takes time to get into the swing of it, but it's worth it. :)
