Don't look down

I weighed myself this morning. I only did it cause I started this new "shake" that my friend Christine recommended. (She gave me the last of her 'ginormous jug of it so I could try before investing.) I'd like to give you the name, but I honestly don't remember. It promotes muscle strength, which of course, the more lean muscle mass you have the more fat you can burn without getting all bulked up. She has lost a pant size using it for about 2 months. She hasn't been exercising, so I think if I combine that with it, I could do a little better. I still need to learn to eat though, 3 meals a day, not just one huge one at 6pm.

Anyway, the scale...I was shocked. I am not sure if it was because of the holidays or what. I don't feel like I over did it, but my scale says differently. Frankly, I think it is demon possessed.

I am also looking to invest in a treadmill. A nice used one if I can find it. This time of year means finding one is difficult. Those resolutions and all... I have trouble keeping up the effort of having to go to a gym after work and finding a place for my daughter to go, while I do. My mom has been gracious enough to let me use her equipment in the past, but I find the same issue of having to leave the house after a long day of work, hard and of course the temptation of just sitting on her comfy couch and visiting, instead of actually working out. I could be more dedicated if I just had one in my living room. Between the treadmill and Pilates, I can lose. Exercise is key for me.

I had a treadmill for a while, but it just didn't keep me interested. And there was no way I was ever going to actually *run* on it.

My current exercise favorites are the DVDs at http://www.whfn.com.

And once I've made some progress, I may try bouncing my body beautiful.

I still have a treadmill, but I have to agree with Jamie. It didn't keep my interest the way the fitness center has. If you get one, be sure to place it where you can watch TV. I think that helps.

Ha! I love the title of your post. I can really relate to that.

I think I would do better with a treadmill at home, too. I had a gym membership and probably didn't go more than once a week. Maybe when I settle down next fall I'll invest in one.

Did I mention how much I am loving this site?

When I working out at my mom's, I actually got to a point where I did run on the mill. Only to raise my heart level and then work it back down again. I actually love walking on it. I do have a stationary bike at home...but that, such at what you guys describe about the mill, lost my interest. It just sits in my bedroom. It's a great towel rack...

I had a small victory today -- I got my hair cut and then walked around the mall two laps. Mall walking is a pretty good option for me -- it's free and it gets me out of the house (therefore, I lessen the temptation to stay planted in front of the TV.) The last time I was successful with weight loss, long walks were a very key component.

I think my next purchase will be a good pair of walking shoes.

Well done, Trixie! I wish my town had a mall.

Good job, Trixie! I hadn't thought about mall walking. That might be a good idea, especially if it rains. What am I saying? We've gone for so long without rain around here I'd probably run out and dance in it. But I hate cold weather, so mall walking would be good when the weather's too cool to walk outside.
