Walking

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I started walking. At first we walked together, but that wasn't working. I have very short legs and a short stride so I coaxed him to go ahead and walk at his own pace and meet me at the end. It's the only way we both get a decent workout.

We walk either the local community track, which is great because the all-weather surface is easy on your back and legs. Alternately, we walk the Los Gatos Creek Trail. It's a blacktop surface, which is great for the bicyclists, but a bit hard on the walkers. I'm up to one and a half miles a day, 5 days a week.

I don't know if I'll lose weight or even inches, but I don't care. I just want to get a reasonable amount of exercise in. Next week will be our fourth week of walking. The week after that, I hope to add one more lap on the track. We'll see how it goes. Wish us luck.

I am loving the walking myself. Even as I sit here dripping with "pearls" I still do. Not even so much for the weight loss effect it can ultimately have in combo with everything else, but it just feels good to get my blood going good after sitting behind a desk all day. The sunshine, the fresh air and the scenery just has some sort of cleansing affect.

Much luck to you!

I'm trying to get back to walking. I think I would be the better for it.

Good to see you, Mama Rose!
